excerpt:
He rested his left hand on the fence and gripped tightly for support. Bob felt someone slip their hand on top of his and give it a light squeeze so he slowly rotated his head to look and see who had come down to stand on the cliff next to him.
There was no one there.
Somehow he knew there wouldn't be.
The sound of the waves and birds sucked out of the air around him. He could see the movement of the water out of the corner of his eye. He watched the bird's wheel and duck along the currents of air, but he couldn't hear a thing. It was as if he had been sucked into a vacuum.
He tried to breathe and found that his lungs were already full of air. When he tried to breathe out, nothing happened. Sparks of lights seem to dance pinpoint bright in front of his eyes.
Then he saw her, the woman.
Bob watched in fascination as before his eyes a ghostly form started to materialize. He saw just her eyes at first, then a smoky silhouette formed to show her lips, then a vague outline of her face and hair.
Bit by bit, she appeared more solid to him, although, he could still see a grove of trees and shrubs through her. She seemed to be floating about slightly. Bobbing like a top.
Then she smiled at him.
